One Response for "Generation Y Perspectives"
Your blog is back up! Hoorah!
It’s absolutely true that NASA hasn’t made the effort to connect with generation Y. For the “baby boomer” generation, NASA was a cultural phenomenon and a tremendous point of pride for the United States. This was because of the novelty of the program as well as the competitive attitude of the Cold War, which ended when the bulk of generation Y were still children. Now that we’re adults, we’re funding a program that many of us are completely uneducated about. Additionally, the overwhelmingly pessimistic tone of the mass media has made it so that audiences are primarily exposed to the tragedies and failures of the program instead of the successes and innovations. When these two factors are combined, it comes as no surprise that we’re not jazzed about NASA, so it’s refreshing to see that members of our generation have created a modernized strategy to renovate the image of a program that was once proudly known as a leader in innovative technology and groundbreaking discoveries.
